Introduction of Forestry and Nature Protection Association of Somogy County (SMETE)

Purpose of the establishment: 

To introduce the ecological values; to strengthen and extend the environment-conscious attitude of mind and save of the health, in addition to saving the green environment in Somogy county and organising the civil protection of the forests. To insure the public life and save interests  of  the forester’s society. To improve and organise the cultural and relax activities of the people working in the forest management.

The main tasks and activities required to accomplish the purposes: 

Nature conservation; organising the protection of the forest ecosystem and the environment To improve the environment-conscious management,  energy saving  and use of renewing energy sources. To organise the protection of the trade interests of the traditional nature conservation activity To insure the representation of the employees’ interests being involved in the forest management, education and forestry authorities. To find sources in order to improve the nature conservation and save of the ecological values. To find application possibilities and prepare application documents for projects dealing with improvement of the infrastructure; with development of relaxation and cultural activities as well as with establishing and carrying on forestry railways and open-air schools, parks and public welfare establishments. To promote the tourism, eco-tourism, recreation and health saving and to sustain the achievements. To save and disseminate the traditional life styles, folk traditions and folk values connecting to the forestry. To promote the education and training as well as the research; to organise professional events. To organise and improve the communication activity in order to inform the publicity by  forestry open-air schools, park forests and the media. To keep contacts with international, national, county and city institutions and civil organisations. To organise forums and consultations to promote the development of fellowships.

Members in the Association:

The association had already 35 members in 2010; they are forest experts in Somogy county and – in addition – teachers and activists loving the nature.
